In January Cindy Sherman was born 19, 1954, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. She began work on Untitled Film Stills, one of her best-known series in 1977. Her black-and-white photographs were famous for inspiring cultural labels supported by the media. She used colour film, large prints, and dedicated more on the lighting and facial expression in the 1980’s. Cindy Sherman’s elaborately “disguised” self-portraits that comment on social role-playing and sexual stereotypes are what she is mainly known for.

Sherman first opened her first one-person show in 1981. As the 1980s developed, she had a style that started transform, converting much darker. Whilst Sherman worked for a clothing line, she manufactured photos that involved very strange characters and postures. One of her work called "Sex Pictures” had included weird and bizarre images, which had been created with manikins and prosthetic strategies. Sherman's most graphic photos, started to use body chunks discovered at medical schools and then merged them into her pictures.
